I spent four mornings checking out the WGA, SAG, AFTRA strike in New York City this week. It was then off to an afternoon of tea and cake. Here are my thoughts about and images from the writers’ and actors’ strike.
Peruvian Protest
While headed north from the Lower East Side, I found myself in New York City’s Union Square today, where about 25 demonstrators were holding a rally in support of Peruvian President Pedro Castillo Terrones, who was ousted from office and imprisoned during a December 7, 2022 coup. Rage Against the War Machine
Today (February 19, 2023) I attended the Rage Against the War Machine on the National Mall in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Here are my thoughts about and images from the days events.
It's Halloween
Halloween rolled around this week. I was in New York City for the 49th Annual Greenwich Village Halloween Parade. Wow, what an event, so many colorfully attired ghouls, zombies, cartoon characters, and marching bands heading up Sixth Avenue. Here are my thoughts about and images from that scary night.
Hunger Strike Outside the White House
While in Washington, D.C. this past week, I stumbled upon several Uyghur activists across the street from the White House. Four of the demonstrators had begun a hunger strike two days earlier. New Jersey Congressman Christopher Smith was the featured speaker. Although the gathering was small, it was one of the more emotional demonstrations I have attended. Here are my thoughts and images.
