Mies van der Rohe was instrumental in the design of the Illinois Institute of Technology's Bronzeville campus in Chicago. The campus' heating plant is one his more utilitarian buildings, although one could argue that Mies was utilitarian through and through. I took the opportunity provided by the Metro Station at 35th Street to photograph it.

I am not a big fan of photographs that feature statues, particularly of historical figures in representational style. Yet, I have always enjoyed the superhuman statue honoring the German philosopher and writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) that sits at the north end of Lincoln Park, with two Mies van der Rohe apartments serving as the backdrop.

The Year 2016 is now resolved, with 2017 totally unresolved. Lots of New Year's resolutions remain unresolved.
