The Nemesis
I don't have a media credential to the Pritzker Pavilion evening performances at the Chicago Blues Festival. I nevertheless managed to snag a seat in the first row behind the photo pit tonight and last night, but alas, no credential. Although tempting because I am on the aisle, I stayed out of the pit.
The woman pictured didn't have credentials, either, but that didn't stop her repeated and temporarily successful efforts to enter the already overcrowded pit. The security guards asked her to leave, but she refused. At one point, one of the guards put her hand over the woman's lens. She just about drove master photographer Mark Sheldon out of his mind. Hence, the "Nemesis" moniker.
While at one level, I do admire her moxy and apparent love of the blues, this woman is the type that gives photographers a bad reputation. Follow the rules.
She is seen here on early Saturday afternoon at the Harris Theatre rooftop stage. Fortunately, Sheldon was nowhere in sight.
