Corrosion in Woodstock

These tanks are located about 2 to 3 blocks off the main square in Woodstock, Illinois.  That square served as the location for Bill Murray's 1993 classic film Groundhog Day.  There are plenty of plaques commemorating the film.

The tank's are part of a larger complex of what looks like an abandoned farm silo/storage system that is now the site of municipal trucks and storage.  I was photographing the larger machinery when the light peeping through the space between the two tanks caught my eyes.  I loved the olive green colorization on the tank that was in direct sunlight, and the light blue on the tank in the shade.  What a difference light makes.  All the peeling rust is clearly visible on the tank in the light, but the upper portion of the tank in the shade shows blobs rather than peeling rust.

For me, this is the perfect photograph.  I love the abstraction.
