Soon

Soon the leaves will return to the trees, which will make this a particularly interesting scene for infrared film.  Shot from the bridge over the lagoon just southeast of Cafe Brauer, this photograph is pretty standard fare for me.  Hop on the 151 from my house north of Belmont, and head south through Lincoln Park.  The luminance and contrast were lovely today, but the colors were somewhat bland, so a monochrome conversion made sense.  Lovely--Fuji Neonpan Acros 100 simulation filter.  The prairie brush is so Chicago.

This was shot around 4:30PM while I talked with my friend Pete on the phone.  I have to take the lens (120mm) in for repair: the mechanical shutter would not trigger using the cable release, so I finger flipped it.  Didn't seem to produce much in the way of noticeable vibration.

Earlier in the day I took my Universalis down to the boat harbor just south of the drive that leads to the Adler Planetarium.  I had an idea for a shot of Soldier Field across the harbor, but I could not achieve focus at infinity.  I'll have to get some guidance to fix the problem.  Fortunately, that was not the binding constraint.  The photograph would not have worked because the sky was white--not enough contrast, but some morning it will.
